A PR, and Still Enjoying the Race

At this year's Baltimore Half Marathon, I set a new PR: 1:54:07, 1 minute and 59 seconds faster than last year. If anyone has a spare second, I could use it.

A few weeks ago I wrote about reaching 1,000 miles earlier this year after raising my monthly running baseline. I suspect those miles mattered on Saturday. But I don't want to turn one race into proof that one change caused the result. Pacing, conditions and what happened on the course all mattered too.

And if you watch the video, you'll see my approach to race nutrition was, let's say, flexible.

What I take from it is simpler: I trained consistently enough to give myself a chance to run well and I still enjoyed the day. That's the version of running I want to keep building.
