Treat them like adults

Flexibility, trust, and ownership drive performance — not permission slips.

Want to protect your team’s energy?
Treat them like adults.

It shocks me that so many workplaces still treat employees like kids who need permission slips:
  - Proving they were sick
  - Asking for permission to take PTO
  - Negotiating every work-from-home day

In my experience, when you treat people like adults… they rise to the occasion. Here’s what that can look like:
  - Team members set flexible schedules that work for them and the team — both in and out of the office
  - Everyone takes time off as needed, with reasonable notice, without needing to “ask permission” or needing “approval”
  - Team leadership asks how they can help — when health, family, or life issues arise — not, can you prove it

If someone is delivering, collaborating, and showing up for everything they’ve committed to — trust them and support them.

Work is only one part of life. Respecting people’s time and energy doesn’t lower performance, it raises it.

Protect energy. Enable autonomy. Build trust.
