Your Attention Is One of Your Greatest Leadership Tools
People don't just notice whether you made time for them. They notice whether you were fully with them when you did.
I used to think priorities were mostly about time. Then I realized they're more often about attention.
You can spend an hour in a meeting while thinking about ten other things. You can spend five fully present minutes with someone and change the trajectory of their day.
I've noticed this in my own life. There are days when I technically make time for the things that matter, but I'm only partially there. My mind is already on the next meeting, the next email, or the next problem to solve.
The people around us don't just notice whether we showed up. They notice whether we were actually with them.
The same is true in leadership.
Your team won't remember every conversation. They'll remember whether they felt heard, understood, and important while they were having it.
Sometimes the most impactful thing a leader can give isn't more time. It's their full attention.
